Tribute to Swansea Met Students Union
GENERAL MEETING
The General Meeting was the supreme governing body of the Union and would be called at least once each academic year. All students from the Institute, part time and full time, were entitled to attend. The main purpose of the General Meeting was to receive reports from the Officers of the Union and the Student Council, to decide on major supply teaching jobs policies of the Union and to ensure that the Union Executive was fulfilling the wishes of its members. Recommendations to the Governing Body of the Institute insisted that changes to be made to the Constitution of the Students Union could only be agreed at the General Meeting. Similarly, only the General Meeting had the authority to decide on any affiliations made by the Students Union to other bodies.

STUDENT COUNCIL
The Student Council was a Committee ran by students where issues and problems affecting students coul be brought to the attention of the Union Executive and appropriate Committees of the Institute. In some circumstances, the Student Council may have directed the sabbatical Officers to consult directly with the Senior Management of the Institute on their behalf. The three campus representatives (who were students themselves and sat on the Union Executive Committee) ran the Council with the assistance of the Deputy President and President. The Councillors were course representatives elected by their fellow students in a process organised by the course diectors.
